Walk on the Wild Side

Today was a green kind of day, don't you think?  Today's outfit was loosely inspired by la vie petite.  You totes see it, don't you?

My brother bought my this skirt (I know, right?).  I love it.  It reminds me of the J. Crew wildcat print that sold out so quickly, and didn't come in a skirt.  Also, it was more expensive (it was silk). This skirt has a really nice weight, doesn't wrinkle!!! and fits very well.  I would buy it in other colors and prints.
Ruffle Crepe Wedge Tee | LOFT (similar, similar)
Cheetah Print Seamed Pencil Skirt | LOFT (different printsimilar)
Leather Double Wrap Belt | LOFT

Isn't this double wrap belt cool?  I have 3 of them, all from the LOFT.  I love them.  You can recreate this effect (using 2 colors!) by using two belts of the same width.  Just put the hole-end of one through the buckle of the other belt and criss-cross them in the back.
 Floral Pin | H&M

Ordinarily, I'm not sure that I would wear these shoes. They felt a little going-out and not that professional.  They're closed toe and closed back, but the suede and Peter Pan back make it feel a little less "work."  I decided this morning, however, that I didn't much care, and the nude was the same, but darker, tone as my skirt.
Pumps | BCBG via T.J. Maxx

Tomorrow is Friday (highly important), but it's also COLLEGE COLORS DAY! So, wear College Colors with pride.  You don't have to have gone to that school. You can wear whatever college colors you like.... Unless it's U(sic)GA.  GO JACKETS!

AniMusings

Can I just say that I have more animal print items than any human being should have?  I mean, really.

Not that this will stop me from buying more, just that I own them.  I should stop, but I know I'm going to see that perfect animal print scarf....

Sigh...

Seafoam and Lace

I really felt I had to wear this skirt. I have yet to wear it, and Labor Day is Monday. Although I definitely wear white after Labor Day, I thought I should really attempt to wear white before Labor Day.
All Over Lace Tee | Ann Taylor (similar)
Compact Doubleweave Pencil Skirt | Ann Taylor (same, similar, similar )

Do you ever have it in your head how you're going to wear something, and then morning comes and you can't find anything you want?  That's how I felt this morning.  I really wanted to wear my animal print pumps, but couldn't find them for the life of me. Seriously. Where did they go?  Anyway, I still like the way these seafoam pumps look with these.  I like the pop of subtle color.
Mona Pumps in Light Peacock | J. Crew (similar; if you buy the J. Crew Mona, go a half size up. They run very small)

Funked up with some hard metal necklaces to keep it from looking too sweet:

Anddddd it's Wednesday. That means it's almost Thursday, which is practically FRIDAY! AND IT'S A LONG WEEKEND!

Slacker

Hey everyone! I've been MIA.  Mr. Matched and I were in Charleston over the weekend hanging out with my parents.  I really needed the R&R.  I didn't take a picture of myself this morning (although I felt somewhat cute).  My little remote battery died and I didn't feel like putting up with the self timer.  Tomorrow...

Jacket | H&M (similar)
Silk Tank | Forever 21 (similar)
Jeans | LOFT Curvy Straight (this season's here)
Seafoam Pumps | J. Crew (similar)

 Bracelets | Forever21
Rings | Mr. Matched

Necklaces | J. Crew Factory

This was my driving back from Charleston outfit on Sunday (sorry I look so tired and disheveled) :
 Chevron Tee | Old Navy
Shorts | J. Crew Factory (same)
Leopard Flats | J. Crew Factory (same)

Necklaces (J. Crew Factory)

And yesterday, I wore an outfit inspired by Emma Pillsbury from Glee  :)
Dress | LOFT Outlet
Cardigan | J. Crew Jackie Cardigan
Belt | H&M
Pumps | Talbots

Necklace | Etsy

In all honesty, I wish I had looked at this picture again before recreating. I like the open cardigan better and like the little gold pin.  Live and learn....

Today I wore a watercolor red skirt from J. Crew Factory and a tee from Forever21, in case you were wondering :)  Maybe I'll wear again in a little while to retake a picture for this blog.

Catch you on the flip side!

Ridiculously unprofessional nails

Check.  Let the weekend begin (and pray noone notices these babies tomorrow).
Peach Polish | China Glaze Peachy Keen
Mint Polish | China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint
Gold Polish | Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Gilty Pleasure

Notwithstanding that these are decidedly not lawyer nails, I think my chevron nails look pretty darn good!

Ice Blue and Dark Pink

Can I just say, I'm so glad it's Thursday?  Because that means tomorrow's Friday, and then it's the weekend!  I'm going to Charleston this weekend to see my parents and meet up with Mr. Matched who has been there a week :(  We have a house there, and I haven't been back in awhile.  Oh, how I miss the South!

Sweater | LOFT (similar)
Silk Tie Top | Ann Taylor (similar)
Skirt | LOFT
Pumps | Ann Taylor Perfect Platforms (similar; similar.  I highly recommend Ivanka Trump shoes)
Bracelet | LOFT

I know this sweater looks red, but it's actually a dark blue-pink.  I bought it years ago, and it's still one of my favorite sweaters.  I love the color and the fit (I have it in 3 colors).  The quality was great and it has lasted me this long!

LET THE WEEKEND BEGIN!

Indecision

I was planning on wearing a completely different outfit this morning. I also liked the way it looked, but it felt to "fall," and I'm trying to eek out summer's bright colors.

Sweater | J. Crew Factory (similar); Belt | Target (similar); Skirt | Ann Taylor (similar; similar)

I wore my grandmother's bracelet today.  She had the best costume jewelry.
Bracelet | Vintage

I wonder where she even got it.  They don't make cool stuff like this anymore, do they?

I originally planned to wear this with a burgundy belt and leopard shoes, but I couldn't find the belt I wanted, so I reversed and wore the leopard belt instead.
Pumps | Ann Taylor (similar)

HAPPY HUMP DAY!

More Dots

What's up, everyone?  I've been doing a bit of work today for this one client, and I've decided that I really like this client.  I also really like the senior associate that does a fair bit of the overseeing for this client, and I think that helps.  I find my days go much better when I don't interact with people who give me anxiety (usually by hiding in my office and avoiding people) and I only interact with people who don't give my anxiety (by taking the long way around and avoiding walking past anxiety-people offices).

Anyway, fashion stuff.  I bought this sweater because it was a look-a-like of J. Crew's cashmere version that I could afford.  In fact, I was in J. Crew today, and the sales associate totally said, "nice sweater!"  :)

Sweater | Old Navy (Here); Silk Top | Anthropologie (similargood striped optionvery similar); Pencil Skirt | LOFT (similar on sale); Pumps | Ann Taylor Perfect Pumps (this year's here.  Worth every penny)

I decided to put polka dots on polka dots to sweeten the polka pot.  Does that count as mixing prints?  I splurged big time on this silk Anthro tie-neck blouse, but I've worn it a ton and love it.  I think it was worth the money.
Bracelets | H&M (I got the belt one recently.  Splurge option here. Kinda similar pink pyramid bracelet)

Orange Sherbert

Saturday was Strawberry Lemonade and today is Orange Sherbert.
Sweater (LOFT, pricey but similar); Skirt (H&M, similar, cute option); Scarf (LOFT, similar); Belt (ASOS, regular and plus.  They run large.  There's also a cute hummingbird onean owl one on sale for $10, a turtle, and an elephant); Shoes (Ann Taylor, this year's version here)

Saturday was such a great success with the pin and scarf combo, I decided to try it again today:
Pin (LOFT, similar)

I felt a bit like a ballerina today, by the way.
Bracelets (Forever21, same, same)

How was everyone's Monday?

POLKA DOT CHAMBRAY!

I (like many people) have been craving J. Crew and/or GAP's polka dot chambray shirt.  At $88, the J. Crew one was just a bit much for a novelty shirt, and the GAP version at $50 sold out fairly quickly.  Well, guess what, my friends?!  OLD NAVY HAS ONE for $25!

The quality is actually very nice and the dot is actually woven into the fabric, not printed.  I am very happy with mine.  I'm normally a small/medium in Old Navy, and I went up to the Medium in this.
Necklace (LOFT); Chinos (Lands End Canvas); Pumps (ING for Macys, similar, similar, and this fabulous number)

Did I need this?  Absolutely not. I have about 1000 polka dot items, including a silk polka dot top.  I also have a bunch of chambray.  But mixing chambray and polka dots???  Be still my heart.  I think I'm going to over wear this top.

These chinos I bought on a lark.  I've been looking for a pair this color, and I saw that Lands End Canvas had a pair.  They didn't have petites, but the slim fit looked short on the model.  They had a 25% off coupon and offered free shipping and returns, so I figured I had nothing to lose.  When not rolled up, they are fairly long on my (I'm 5'1" on a good day), but I always intended to roll them up and make them more boyfriend-y.  If you need a pair of chinos in some fun colors, I recommend these.  I paid $45, but they fit great.  There's a bit of stretch, but not so much that they're a shapeless mess after wearing them for an hour (ahem. J. Crew.)

And, yes.  Both Lands End and I were obvi inspired by this famous Pinterester:

I'm very tempted to get the orange:

What do you think?  Do you have fun colored pants in your wardrobe?

30X30 Day 30 - Strawberry Lemonade and Finally Done

Today, I made an effort to actually finish off my 30X30, if only 18 days late.

Scarf (Old Navy, similar); T-Shirt (GAP, similar here for $2!!); Shorts (J. Crew); Flats (J. Crew Factory); Flower Pin (H&M); Bracelets (Forever21)

I've been feeling a bit melancholy lately, and neon on neon seemed to be just the ticket to bring me out of my lackluster mood.

And just because my outfit wasn't happy or bright enough, I tucked a flower into my scarf.

More importantly, my 30X30 is done!  You can click on "What I Wore" above to see all my 30X30 outfits. Next time I do this, I have to remember to put in a few more neutrals.  I think a lot of the things I picked were very "memorable," making them harder to mix and match and more noticeable when I wore that bright yellow sweater.  I like having brights and statements, but every day of it made me self-conscious.  Even if noone else noticed, I certainly did.

So yay!  I liked the 30X30 and may try it again sometime.  Is anyone out there doing a 30X30?  How's it going??  Are you sick of your clothes yet?!

Casual Fridays

Normally, our work is Jean Fridays, but it's so freaking hot right now, jeans sometimes seem like an awful idea.  I decided to go with linen for my "Jean Friday."
Sweater (LOFT); Shirt (Old Navy): Pants (LOFT); Necklace (LOFT)

My boss has been on a business trip all week and just came back today.  What a way to ruin a perfectly good Friday, don't you think?

I feel a little chunky in my chunky sweater, but I was determined to wear it today.  I put it on after my hot walk to work.  I don't really know what I was thinking.  It's too hot to wear jeans, but not too hot to wear a chunky sweater?  I'm not too smart, am I?

I bought this cool layered necklace from the LOFT ages ago.  I liked the metal flower detail with the pearls.  Something about the combination of the very feminine pearls and flowers with the much harder metal details spoke to me.  The only thing I don't like is that the flowers keep flipping around.

Working my closet

I'm on a mission now to wear things in my closet I haven't worn yet.  Seriously.  Things that have tags on it.  As a bonus mission, I'm trying to wear things I haven't worn in awhile.  I bet I could go months without repeating a single thing in my closet (well except maybe black skirts and jeans).

Cardigan (Banana Republic Factory); Silk Tank (J. Crew Factory); Necklace (J. Crew via eBay); Belt (J. Crew); Skirt (J. Crew Factory); Leopard Pumps (J. Crew via eBay); Bracelet (LOFT, gift from a friend)

I have three of these bubble necklaces.  I need to stop, but I really want this apple green/neon one.  I really don't need it.  Somebody make sure I don't get it.  I've worn the tank and the cardigan once since I bought them, both of which I bought ages ago.

Today, I was feeling pattern mixing again:
Blazer (LOFT); Anchor Top (Forever21); Polka Dot Skirt (Target); Necklace (Old Navy); Pumps (Ivanka Trump)

As for this outfit, the top still had the tags on, but I just bought that a few weeks ago during my 30X30.  Blazer I haven't worn yet this year.  The skirt I wore once a few months back.  I need to go on a Fiscal Fast and stop shopping.

And since I kept having to go outside and come back in, this is really how I wore it. I was sweltering.  You want an upclose of the cute anchors?  OKAY!

Why does this look so wrinkled? It wasn't like that when I pulled it out this morning.  Whatever.  I think this shirt is going to be one of my new faves.

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

I got the blues.

I'm all about pattern mixing, and here's today's effort:
Cardigan (LOFT); Blouse (H&M); Skirt (LOFT); Pumps (Target); Necklace (Francesca's)

My camera ran out of batteries, and this was the best pic I could get.  I was going to do an up close of that shirt, but couldn't.  Here's a picture I took of it when I first bought it:

The best part?  It was $4.95.

Today I was naked

Just kidding.  I actually had on a neon green top that I but at Banana Republic Factory agggeees ago, but haven't worn. I was determined to wear it today though.  My outfit was a little lackluster and boring, so I decided to scrap it lest you think I'm a total fashion flop.  In reality, I had an idea on the way to work this morning on how to wear the top better.  So, in a few weeks, I'm going to whip out that very memorable top again, and hopefully style it a bit better.

Meanwhile, I have a bunch of outfits to catch up on.  I wore this sassy number last Thursday:
Chiffon Tee (Ann Taylor); Belt (J. Crew); Skirt (J. Crew Factory)

I know what you're thinking:  This isn't very sassy.  Whatever.  I needed something to call it.  I actually felt pretty good in this outfit today, and relatively conservative for work.  No crazy outlandish colors, which is my norm, but just enough non-lawyer for it to still feel "me."

This necklace is from H&M and I think was $8.  I snatched it up quickly:

It's very  reminiscent of the ubiquitous bubble necklace (of which I have 3), isn't it?

This is what I wore Friday:
Sweater (J. Crew Factory); Jeans (LOFT): Pumps (I.N.C.)

The look was inspired by a fellow blogger, Hiking in Stilettos. I actually went through 3-4 different necklaces before settling on this Kate Spade one I got from a very nice friend:

And I wore my new favorite "belt" bracelet from H&M and a new tortoise link bracelet from J. Crew Factory:

I realized today that every day this month, I think I've worn something new.  And I don't mean new to my blog new.  I mean, I-haven't-even-taken-the-tags-off-even-though-I-bought-this-months-ago new.  Maybe that will be my August challenge -- wear one thing I still have tags on a day.  I think I may actually have enough things with tags still on (without buying new stuff) to make it the whole month.  That's pretty serious stuff.  I really need to stop shopping.

Hiatus from 30X30

I have one more 30X30 Outfit left, but I have no earthly idea what to wear. I'm pondering and will probably come up with something next week.

I'm missing my Monday outfit. I had to be at work super early and just didn't take one.  Whoops!  It wasn't all that exciting.  A navy sheath dress and this cardigan:
LOFT via eBay

I wanted this cardigan when it first came out from the LOFT ages ago, but somehow convinced myself I didn't need it.  I've regretted it ever since.  I did some hunting on eBay, and this popped up.  Only $10!  SOLD!  Love it.  I think it had only been worn a handful of time. It's in great condition.

This is what I wore yesterday:
Silk polka dot blouse (Lands End Canvas, similar, similar); Skirt (Lands End Canvas, similar); Bug Belt (ASOS); Necklace (Forever21)

Belt Bracelet (H&M); Rhinestone link bracelet (Forever21)

That shirt is the reason why I don't need either of those polka dot chambray shirts from J. Crew or GAP.  originally had this styled with this scarf, but it felt way too casual for work:

American Eagle I think

I love this skirt, but it's very full and made me look a bit chunky, particularly from the side.  Whatevs. I'll still wear it.

This is what I wore today.  I cut my face out since it was looking rough:
Anchor Cardigan (J. Crew Factory); Orange Silk Tank (J. Crew Factory); Navy Linen Skirt (LOFT); Shoes (Stuart Weitzman); Necklace (stolen from my mom)

This is one of my fave new cardis.  My husband is in the Navy and I love pirates, so I'm a sucker for anything anchor.  I tell people it's because of Mr. Matched, but really it's because it's subtle pirate.

Bracelets (H&M)

This is the second time I've worn this belt bracelet since I bought it Monday night. I love it.  Isn't it cute?! It's super cheeky.  It was only $6, so you should pick yourself up one.
