About Me

I'm a young lawyer in my first job out of school.  I work in a profession that is infamous for boring, gray suits, but I have found a way to integrate my personal style into that conservative world.  I believe professional doesn’t have to mean gray.

I believe in color, bold prints, and polka dots.  Lots of polka dots.

I believe glitter is a neutral.

I believe style doesn't have to cost a lot of money and that integrating pieces in your wardrobe with pieces that are on-trend is the key to a dynamic wardrobe.
I believe in sales, coupons, and generous return policies.

I believe in buying pieces that can serve double duty for work and weekends and are not simply "one hit wonders."

I believe in dressing up to go to the grocery store.  If you can't wear rhinestones then, when can you?

In my closet, I have framed bags of my favorite brands and a signed picture of my favorite singer, and two signed hats of my favorite NASCAR Drivers.  My closet is the best room in my apartment.

I believe shopping online is a perfectly acceptable way to spend your lunch hour, or really any hour

I believe in shopping vicariously with my friends for outfits for job interviews, for weddings, and for making ex-boyfriends jealous.

I believe in shopping vicariously with people I don't know in the fitting room.  If they don't have a friend to help them, why not me?  I especially love to help those women who stagger into their rooms under armfuls of grey and black cardigans and clearly are scared of color.  My favorite tip?  If you're wary of color or a trend, small accessories like necklaces, bracelets, and belts, are an easy and inexpensive way to start putting color in your wardrobe.  It's less terrifying to wear a bright belt than it is to wear a bright skirt, but a pop of color can make the whole outfit.

I believe shopping vicariously is a good idea for my bank account since I can't afford to buy everything, even though I try my hardest.

I believe in slim line hangers so you can fit more clothes in your closet.

I believe that clothes are transformative.  I bought a charcoal pinstripe skirt suit from LOFT many, many years ago for a job interview and still wear it.  I'm fairly certain that, given the opportunity, I could take over the world in that suit.

I firmly believe in the three "F"s.  If it doesn't fit, flatter, or feel good, you should pass.  There are all sorts of trends I would love to wear, but I'm curvy and petite (Julie is my best friend) and not a model.  Skinny jeans?  Not a good look for me.  I sort of looked like a half-popped tube of Pillsbury biscuits.  Therefore, I believe in making trends work for you and not working hard and forcing trends.

  1. I think we share our love for the LOFT. I googled images for a pair of pants I just bought from them today and came across your blog! I love your style. I will defiantly be taking fashion notes from you!

  2. Glad you found me! I've been on hiatus for awhile, but I'm (theoretically) back now!
